The Role
Manheim Vehicle Services is an evolving business supporting customer de-fleet, multiple remarketing channels and a complete range of vehicle preparation services including wholesale and retail ready.
Team members are responsible for ensuring all customer defined requirements are delivered ensuring operational and customer service excellences are met at all times.
Scope of Role:
The Operations Team Leader role requires strong people management, communication and administrative skills and the ability to prioritise effectively, ensuring key service level agreements are met.
This role is a varied position encompassing both yard operational activity and some office administration duties, such as resource planning, return to work meetings etc. This role involves outdoor working in all weathers, and physical fitness is essential due to the requirements to actively move across site, to get in and out of cars, safely driving vehicles, and moving items to correct locations.
The yard operation covers 657 acres and is divided into 3 core functions: Inbound, Movements and Outbound. The role of an Operations Team Leader has a dedicated team and supports across all functions reporting into the Operations Manager.
Responsible for a team of operations assistants and coordinators, ensuring workloads are prioritised and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles whilst on-site, and any other activity reasonably required depending on the specific customer defined process.
Objectives for Role:
* To have excellent People Management skills, able to guide Teams and educate them accordingly on roles and responsibilities.
* Leading your team and managing all people aspects, such as absence management, resource planning, performance management, investigations, disciplinaries, etc.
* Driving engagement with your team.
* To observe all health and safety rules and take all reasonable care to promote the health and safety at work for others.
* Ensure vehicle records are updated correctly and accurately on all relevant MVS systems.
* Ensure all loose items are stored in the correct locations and correct manner.
* To carry out any other ad hoc duties as required ensuring the smooth running of the yard operation.
* To drive in a correct and professional manner in line with site rules and HSE requirements and treat all vehicles with respect.
* To ensure you conduct yourself in a calm and courteous manner whilst dealing with customers and team members.
* To drive any vehicles as required for which you are licenced to drive.
* Responsible for the completion of the scheduled MVS Self-Assessment checklist, completing the checks for your area of responsibility, reporting on the compliance rate, and resolving or escalating any non-conformances in a timely manner.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
* Experience of managing a team is desirable.
* Must have strong communication skills, communicating effectively with colleagues and giving clear instructions where appropriate.
* Able to demonstrate good time management with the ability to prioritise the workload and work to deadlines.
* Able to cope well under pressure in a very busy atmosphere whilst ensuring attention to detail is maintained at all times.
* Compliant with use of handheld and tablet technology.
