Becoming an Apprentice Chef is a great opportunity, but becoming an Apprentice Chef in our hospital, where you'll play a key role in nourishing our patients, is truly special.
In this fast-paced kitchen environment, you'll thrive with the support of a close-knit team dedicated to helping you develop your culinary skills.
No prior experience is necessary—our comprehensive support will guide you through the skills, knowledge, and behaviours you need to succeed as an integral member of our kitchen team while working towards your Production Chef Apprenticeship. What matters most is your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
Please note: this apprenticeship is only available to those who have had the right to work in the UK for the past three years and do not already hold a relevant professional cookery qualification.
We won’t shy away from saying that at times it will be a challenging role, but we know you will expect this and of course, this will be offset by how rewarding it is too.
Your day-to-day role will be to prepare, cook and present food under supervision for staff, visitors and primarily patients to the highest standards in line with the department’s quality control guidelines.
We already have a number of great people working within our hospitals, so we asked them what they enjoyed about this department, and this is what they had to say:
We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
