Mid-level Corporate Lawyer opportunity with ethically run and rapidly rising commercial firm with a clear vision for its further growth and a sizeable Corporate department. The firm performs to team targets as opposed to individual targets, offering a supportive and collaborative environment in contrast to many brands of comparable size and capability.
My client is a multi-site firm with an established presence in Yorkshire and the North West. It is B Corp certified and has a corporate department of over 50 personnel across all sites. They operate for sizeable privately owned businesses and some plcs, sourcing work from across the UK including London.
The Corporate team in Leeds is very busy, but they have a structural gap between junior Solicitors and the Partners, hence the need to recruit - realistically this is a key hire for the team.
A suitable candidate will have upwards of 3 years PQE in transactional Corporate Law, gained in a regional, national, or international brand. You'll have found your feet with the rudiments of corporate law and established some confidence about your role in transactions, but this firm is keen to continue your professional development. You'll work closely in support of partners, be able to run some of your own matters at an appropriate level, and also provide valuable guidance to less experienced colleagues. You'll be Leeds-based but may occasionally assist colleagues in other offices.
Career progression is an individual choice, and this firm will respect the contribution of every team member, supporting you on a career trajectory that feels right for you. If you want to make a valuable contribution, be appreciated, and earn decent money, that's brilliant. If you want to aim for Partnership and take on more responsibility and profile-raising work, then that's also up for discussion. These things are not prescriptive, and this is not a 'one size fits all' career option.
You'll have a collaborative approach and be keen to work in a genuine team where big egos and sharp elbows are not tolerated, as that is not the culture of this firm. A high level of capability and full-service expertise does not have to mean a big corporate law mindset, so anyone looking for something a bit different could enjoy being part of this business.
Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and do not prohibit applications from candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible, but if we have not contacted you within 5 days, then unfortunately on this occasion, your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
