This role, as part of the established Health and Safety Team, is to provide comprehensive professional Health and Safety advice, training, instruction and information, particularly related to estates, construction and fire safety. You will assist managers across the University in maintaining high quality Health and Safety standards in support of the University business and statutory requirements. This role also line manages a small team of 3 other Health and Safety professionals.
You will be an experienced Health and Safety professional who has worked in a large organisation with experience of working within Estates, Construction and Fire Safety subject areas. You must hold a degree in a related subject and as a minimum, you must be in possession of a Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety qualification such as a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. Ideally, you should be a current Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), although we will consider individuals working towards Chartership.
Working with an established Health and Safety Team, you will be required to support and mentor your small number of reportees as well as members of the wider team. As a Lead Advisor, you will interact with colleagues from across the University at all levels and therefore you should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. These skills will be put into practice when carrying out audits and investigations and while delivering training to groups of various sizes.
