We are looking to recruit a lawyer to join our Contracts, Procurement and Major Projects team. You will be joining a small team of lawyers dealing with a variety of matters, primarily contracts, grants, procurement and commercial law.
You’ll be a qualified barrister, solicitor or legal executive who is a fellow of CiLEX with an impressive knowledge of contract and commercial law. You will be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of subsidy control, company law, contract law and drafting a wide range of contracts including standard build contracts such as JCT or NEC4. Knowledge of Data Protection legislation would be an advantage but not essential. You will be able to work unsupervised and carry your own caseload. You’ll have excellent communication skills, refined analytical skills and the ability to deputise for more senior team members as required.
You will provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues, varying in complexity, working closely with the Council’s departments in order to proactively co-ordinate, problem solve and manage a large number of instructions.
This role will suit a highly motivated and organised lawyer seeking a challenge with a proactive approach to problem-solving, an aptitude for legal research and willingness to contribute to the improvement of the Legal Services Team as a whole. Excellent client care skills and an eagerness to provide an excellent high-quality service to our clients is a must.
Why Herefordshire?
We’re offering you the flexibility and choice to make decisions about when you deliver your legal expertise. If you wish to work a four-day week then we can accommodate this. If you want to compress your hours to give yourself more time in the afternoons or mornings then this is possible, and we also recognise that this can change to suit as circumstances change. We fully recognise the importance of work-life balance and consider Herefordshire Council to be a modern, vibrant workplace where creativity and collaboration is actively encouraged.
Most of our lawyers work flexibly and largely work from their home base. We anticipate that this would be the case for this role and therefore we encourage applications for nationwide from both public and private sector lawyers.
Our current team will happily tell you how friendly our team is. We strive to work together, interact and problem solve in order for you to achieve your best and feel fully supported. We are happy to discuss career aspirations and are able to give you the support and opportunity to achieve them. You will be part of a team who strive for excellence and continuous professional growth, working in a supportive and flexible environment.
There is also a relocation package on offer for those interested in moving to Herefordshire.
