The Division of Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services is recruiting for Health Care Support Workers for Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre.
This is an exciting time for Bed Based services, as working alongside Wards 21b and 27 we will be creating a seamless transition from the Acute Trust to Primary care.
Main Duties of the Job
An opportunity has arisen for Band 2 HCA to join an exceptional team of multidisciplinary staff under the direction of the Ward Manager.
The team will focus on facilitating the safe and timely admission, rehabilitation, and discharge of transitioning patients, catering for a diverse age range. Patients will be transferred from Leighton Hospital or step up from the community and are admitted to Elmhurst to undergo therapeutic rehabilitation to restore physical functionality following acute injury, illness, or planned intervention.
Job Responsibilities
The HCA role is integral to the team, with primary responsibilities including leading ward services such as catering, cleaning, equipment, and supplies. The work can include:
* Assisting the Therapy team with the physical rehabilitation of patients.
* Talking to and reassuring patients.
* Infection control.
* Keeping the ward clean and tidy.
* Serving and clearing away meals.
* Personal care.
* Providing support for patients to participate in activities that stimulate their physical and mental state.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ 2/3 in Social Care or equivalent
Skills and Knowledge
* Importance of equality, diversity, and rights in patient care
* Importance of quality of care and changes in practice
* Willingness to develop IT skills
* Importance of continued learning
Experience
* Previous NHS experience
