About the role The Experimental Particle Physics group at the University of Sussex seeks to appoint a talented and creative researcher with strong computational and experimental skills to join the Sussex team working on the ATLAS experiment and its upgrades. The successful candidate will work primarily on the development of tracking software for the Event Filter trigger upgrade of the ATLAS experiment in view of the High-Luminosity LHC phase, with the possibility to participate in physics analyses and experimental operations at some appropriate level. The post is funded for 12 months initially, with the possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funding. Candidates are expected to hold, or be close to obtaining, a doctorate in experimental particle physics, with experience of research at a large-scale collider experiment. About you You will have a PhD (or close to submission of PhD thesis). You will have excellent computing skills, can work individually on your own initiative and without close supervision, as well as part of a team. You will have the skills to manage your own workload and support other colleagues, including PhD students, and know how t o prioritise and meet deadlines. You will communicate clearly with the team, line management, and stakeholders. You will have evidence of engagement in high-quality research activity.
