My client based in Newbury is looking for a Quantity Surveyor with 2+ years of experience in the construction industry to work with the Buying, Contracts, Estimating & Finance Departments. Reporting to the Operations Director and Department Heads.
Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor
1. Cost Reconciliation Reporting
o Coordinating monthly reporting from CM’s
o Reviewing CM’s monthly cost reports
o Completing monthly project cost report summary for the board
o Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections in line with these.
2. Contract Cashflow
o Coordinating CM’s monthly project cashflow updates
o Updating contract master cashflow
3. Groundwork Procurement
o Bills of Quantities
o Tender packages and tender return analysis
o Placing PO’s and managing cost budgets
4. Groundwork Valuations
o Agreeing GW valuations on major projects in conjunction with CM
o Settling Final Accounts
5. Estimating Department
o Production of groundwork BoQ’s at tender stage for specialist projects
Key Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor
1. 2+ years QS experience within the construction sector
2. Good IT skills and the ability to learn how to use specialist software
3. Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
4. The ability to work in a team
5. Negotiation skills
6. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
