We have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Clinical Trials Pharmacy Team.
You will be part of a close, dedicated team working with Pharmacy and Research Staff in an essential role to help minimise waste and improve medicines efficacy with our high cost cancer drugs.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Trials Dispensing Assistant Technical Officer. Clinical trial experience is not essential for this role, but would be desirable. We are a very experienced, friendly team and you will be supported in your development into an exciting and fulfilling role.

We are a friendly, experienced, supportive team, who want to promote research and open studies which will provide new treatments and medication for patients.
You will help support the team with the day to day running of current trials, undertaking the receipt and dispensing of clinical trial prescriptions, and the ordering, receipt and appropriate storage of clinical trial medication.
Ensuring documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner including completion of accountability logs and preparation for the safe disposal or return of used/unused clinical trial medication.

• To participate in the Set-Up of new clinical trials opened at MTW Trust.
• To dispense clinical trial medication in accordance with departmental SOPs and clinical trial regulations.
• To receive clinical trial drug deliveries in accordance with departmental and clinical trial specific SOPs. To ensure that stock received is correct, the correct paperwork has been received as outlined in the delivery note or trial specific SOP. To ensure that appropriate temperature monitoring has been completed during shipment and to take appropriate actions on the event of a temperature excursion which will include quarantining stock and liaising with the pharmacy clinical trials team.
• Undertaking regular stock checks and ordering trial stock using trial specific documentation where appropriate.
• Support the pharmacy clinical trials team in collating clinical trial workload statistics.
• Monitoring the temperature-controlled areas for clinical trial medication within the pharmacy department and at ward level where appropriate. To take appropriate action in the event of a temperature excursion following sponsor guidelines.
• Safe and appropriate handling patient returned clinical trial medication. Ensuring where appropriate accountability logs are updated with details of returns.
• To be able to follow procedures, current clinical trials legislation and ensure working as per Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidance. and Safety at Work Act and COSHH.
