Senior Underwriter – Fine Art and Specie (Lloyd’s based)

However, we are not content to rest on our laurels, and following the inclusion of Probitas 1492 into the wider Aviva Group, we will look to profitably grow this sector even more with our syndicate stamp over the coming years.
A bit about the job:
The role of Senior Underwriter is key to the future success, and growth ambitions we have for Marine in general and Fine Art & Specie (FAS) in particular, and sits within a team writing wholesale marine business from our Boxes in Lloyd’s and a wider team of marine underwriters in London primarily working out of our London office. However, the main focus of the role is to underwrite all 4 classes of FAS business for the Syndicate, in conjunction with the company market underwriters. We believe that this new distribution area will allow us to significantly grow our market share.
Our appetite is broad & worldwide including Fine Art, General Specie, Jewellers Block, and Cash in Transit.
You will have accountability for ensuring the allocated business is aligned to plan requirements for all Marine business written & renewed, as well as delivering the volume, quality and profitability of growth opportunities to the Line of Business, which enables them to hit their plan targets.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
1. Experience in underwriting and handling syndicate fine art and specie business including blue chip multinational clients.
2. Proven track record of underwriting a portfolio for a Lloyd’s syndicate including understanding the metrics required to monitor such a portfolio.
3. Well regarded by major London market brokers with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
4. Results oriented and a drive to succeed.
5. The ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
