To support our Software Engineering teams we are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help build and grow our modern tech stack. You’ll be working closely with the Head of Engineering and Head of Data Engineering to ensure our infrastructure and processes are production grade and scalable. This role offers a broad spectrum of technical responsibilities, making it an excellent fit for those eager to develop a versatile skill set in the field. About the role The Platform Engineer will play a pivotal role across Lantern's tech stack. Your main responsibilities are: Partnering with application and data teams to design and implement secure, scalable solutions to complex technical challenges Championing automation to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency across the environment Supporting developers with application deployment issues and handling platform-level administrative tasks as needed Collaborating with other Platform Engineers to continuously evolve our stack, and evaluate emerging technologies for potential impact Technologies At Lantern, we work with a broad and evolving set of technologies, so we don’t expect you to be an expert in everything from day one. That said, there are a few core technologies you’ll need to have hands-on experience with to hit the ground running: Good hands-on experience with public cloud providers (Azure preferred) including a solid understanding of the various different service offerings Strong proficiency using Terraform Experience with containers and container orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes and its related tooling e.g. Helm, Kustomize, FluxCD/Argo Strong experience of designing, implementing and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions) Good scripting proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell, with an automation-first mindset Beneficial to have: Experience working with Identity Providers (e.g. Azure B2C, Okta) Operational knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar databases, including provisioning and access management Exposure working with monitoring stacks including Prometheus and Grafana Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable and resilient cloud architectures Mindset To be a good fit in this role we’d expect the candidate to have: Solid experience in Platform Engineering/DevOps. We’re looking for someone with a clear understanding of what it takes to build and maintain the infrastructure required to support the business. You should be completely comfortable being able to spin up all the resources required to host an application. A growth mindset. Technologies change regularly and we want to be able to keep up. We’re looking for someone who loves to learn new things and test out the latest technologies wherever possible A Collaborative Worker. A confident and adaptable communicator who can establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Highly organised. You’ll be a self-starter capable of managing workload and priorities independently. These are not required for the role but would be beneficial to your application: Experience in Supporting O365 / Other SaaS Apps.
