We are looking to recruit experienced Team Leaders and those looking to expand their experience and who can demonstrate a passion to make a difference, every day, to our service users, who are transitioning from younger person services into adult services.
We are a CQC registered care and support provider, supporting people of all ages. We are a passionate and ever-evolving provider, delivering excellent care & support to vulnerable people in our local communities.
Cliffe House in Yeadon will be the first service Amethyst have specifically for 18-25 year olds, it is a small service which will support 5 individuals.
Transition into adulthood is a time of great change and pressure for all young people. Young people with additional needs, including special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), face many of the same challenges as their peers who do not have additional needs.
We have a diverse workforce who are focused on delivering excellent standards of care and support to our service users. We provide various support provisions including supported living, community-based, domiciliary, and day services.
We work 24/7; however, for this role, you will work on a two-week rota basis, to include some evenings and alternate weekends.
Key responsibilities
* Support and encouragement to Service Users with their personal care ensuring optimum independence, dignity, and respect of individuals where applicable.
* Support younger people to gain the skills they require to live independently within their own home.
* Encourage and assist with the preparation of meals and beverages, promoting independence.
* Ensure cleanliness is always promoted and encouraged while supporting individuals within their own homes.
* Keep all relevant documentation up to date and in line with the organisation's Data Protection policy, including care plans and communication logbooks.
* Understand personal responsibilities regarding Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling of Service Users and fire safety and evacuation procedures.
* Act courteously towards Service Users and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each Service User.
* Take reasonable care of items of equipment supplied by the service.
* Attend Staff meetings and training sessions as required.
* Adhere to the organisation's Policies and Procedures.
* Demonstrate respect for the rights of people you support, and for their decisions and choices. Promote people's individuality, advocating on their behalf where necessary.
* Encourage physical care prompting in accordance with the individual's care plan, respecting their dignity and preferences.
* Support people to achieve their personal outcomes in relation to managing their daily life, including support to use transport, keep their home clean, prepare meals, use community leisure facilities, visit family and friends, and attend college or work.
* Take steps to find out about each person's preferred method of communication, demonstrating active listening and encouraging their communication.
* Offer support, guidance, and advice that is in the best interest of those who do not have the capacity to make some decisions in their life.
* Through person-centred planning, coach people to express their aspirations, develop new skills, and recognize and use their talents, which may include support with writing CVs and applying for jobs.
* Take appropriate and immediate action to ensure all Service Users are safeguarded from abuse and report any instances of alleged abuse.
* Work in a way that promotes trust and builds rapport with each individual, their family, and significant others.
* Keep good records, communicate effectively, and share information as appropriate while maintaining confidentiality and data protection requirements.
* Be an effective team member, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness, and cooperate with colleagues and others in the best interest of the people you support.
* Demonstrate through your actions that you understand and work within the values of the organisation, including respecting diversity and actively challenging discrimination.
* Dress and behave appropriately for the support role you are undertaking.
* Take appropriate actions following recommendations from inspections and other internal audit processes.
* Ensure service provision to agreed KPIs.
* Undertake any other duties as requested.
What you'll need to succeed
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has an interest in supporting children and adults with mental health diagnosis and is looking to either progress within mental health or an existing support worker who is looking for their next challenge.
The key is the ability to demonstrate a passion to deliver excellent service to vulnerable adults in a dignified manner. You will need to be able to work independently as well as within a team, and have the confidence to interact with those we support with patience and compassion.
To meet our commitment to providing safe, high-quality services to those we support, we will complete an enhanced background check with the Disclosure and Barring service, which will include a check of the Adult Barred list, once an offer of employment is made.
