Job Description
The NIHR is looking for a skilled and motivated Data Analyst with expertise in SQL, Qlik, Alteryx, and other analytical tools to join our dynamic Data Analytics team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in data-driven decision-making, collaborating across multiple business areas to deliver meaningful insights that drive impact.
The Data and Insights team provides analytical support to internal teams and external customers. As a member of this team, reporting to the Data Analytics Manager, you will be interacting with all areas of the business, providing ad-hoc and routine analytical support. Working with the other data analysts and data engineer you will help to maintain existing databases and Qlik applications and produce new applications as and when there is a business need. You will have interactions with other areas of NIHR, including helping to answer information requests, freedom of information requests, and dealing with stakeholders in the Department of Health and Social Care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Respond to requests for information under tight KPIs from internal and external stakeholders
* Provide analytical support for quarterly and annual reports
* Generate high-quality visualisations to be used in reports for stakeholders
* Undertake any ad hoc analyses tasks or projects as required
* Contribute to the creation of dashboards (Qlik)
* Develop workflows via Alteryx to automate and improve existing processes
* Manage and maintain large, complex datasets primarily through SQL Server Management Studio
* Support in the development of existing and new data products and services
* Innovate and improve our existing SQL setup through self-driven initiatives
* Manage SQL jobs and Stored procedures (building and deploying)
* Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues as they arise
* Study work methods and improve procedures to increase efficiency of data collection and analysis
* Assist with implementing quality assurance processes to ensure data collected and reports are of a high standard
* Liaise with and maintain good working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Create and review documentation and work procedures
Qualifications
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Required Criteria
* 2+ years of experience in a similar analyst role
* Advanced proficiency in Alteryx, including building complex workflows, utilizing macros, and integrating APIs
* Hands-on experience with Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools (Qlik preferred)
Desired Criteria
* Previous experience or a strong interest in clinical research
* Familiar with various file-management systems such as MS Sharepoint and Google Drive
* Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
* Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
* Knowledge of Business Intelligence/Data Visualisation software (Qlik preferable)
* Knowledge of cloud-hosted database environments such as Amazon Web Services
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; being able to know when to interact formally or informally
* Meticulous attention to detail
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise a diverse workload
* High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, but with expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Note: This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid role. Employees are required to work from our Twickenham office at least one day per week, with the possibility of increased office attendance based on team needs.
