As an Educational Psychologist for Leicester City Council, I play an integral role in a multi-disciplinary, diverse team that is friendly, supportive, and well-regarded. My professional development is always nurtured and time is protected for supervision, peer coaching and planned CPD. There are well-established links with the EP training course at Nottingham University and other local authorities, and further development is always encouraged. Leicester City is a unique and vibrant multi-cultural community. With a strong culture of collaborative working within the service and across the local area too, there is a genuine ethos of inclusion. With a manageable caseload I’ve had the autonomy to successfully invest time in personal interest projects. There are development teams around EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion), emotion coaching, ELSA, EBSA strategy and more. In addition, we have working groups exploring narrative approach and power threat and meaning frameworks, arising from staff interest. Our time allocation model ensures that we are a broad-based psychology service, with a balance between statutory, early intervention and training and development work, and all of our City schools have protected time for school priority work, giving us the opportunity to develop our creative delivery of psychology. We have EPs working in a range of areas including with the virtual school, international new arrivals, anti-bullying (Positive Peaceful Places) and with our designated specialist provisions in mainstream settings. EP salary is on Soulbury A Scale Points 2-7 - £44,474 - £54,609 (up to) 3 additional points for SPA. Our minimum starting point is 6 - £52,678. Applicants must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC or completing Doctoral level training in Applied Educational & Child Psychology.
