Location:
Launceston General Hospital (LGH), crowned at the top of the bountiful Tamar Valley. The LGH provides inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston and surrounding areas.
Job Description:
* Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
* Provide Plastic and Reconstructive services to the population of northern Tasmania (250,000).
* Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
* Provide leadership and mentoring for Registrars and RMOs, participate in SET Registrar training and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings.
The role:
* Clinical Activities:
o Elective and Acute operating, with the potential for peripheral elective day surgery.
o Outpatient Clinic at the LGH, with the potential for peripheral clinics.
o Weekly Grand Rounds and when appropriate multidisciplinary meetings.
o Provide consultative service for other specialty units.
o Supervising unit staff to include Fellow, Trainee, junior Registrars and residents.
* Quality Assurance Activities within the LGH:
o Participate in Unit and Departmental Management Meetings.
o Participate in continuing education meetings.
o Ensuring accurate clinical records.
* Teaching & Research:
o Undergraduate teaching, including tutorials for students of the Tasmanian Medical School.
o Teaching of the clinical staff (Doctors and Nursing).
o Participate in clinical reviews and research activities.
* Call Back:
o Participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster with other consultants 1:4-1:5.
Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training.
Details of Appointment:
Fixed Term, part time, day worker position working 36 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you can join the team for a three year period.
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $301,349 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Eligibility:
o Holds specialist registration.
o Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway.
o Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.
o Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).
