Post Title:
Sixth Form LRC Co-Ordinator
Purpose:
To support individual students and groups of students to access learning.
To support teachers in enabling students to learn and embed Professional Standards.
To facilitate the University Admissions process (UCAS/Unifrog).
Reporting to:
Head of Sixth Form
Liaising with:
Teaching staff, other student support, student services staff.
Working time:
Term time plus 2 weeks – these would be the A level and GCSE results weeks (mid-End Aug).
Salary:
NJC 12 £26,421 pro-rata
MAIN (Core) DUTIES
Main Tasks
1. As a member of the faculty team to work with and under the direction of the line manager.
2. By fulfilling the professional obligations of a faculty member including the adherence to faculty policies and procedures, attendance of faculty meetings/briefings, duty supervision.
3. By withdrawing Sixth Form students for support on any aspect of learning or organizing learning during timetabled intervention.
4. In preparing materials and resources (including resources for the faculty VLE) to support learning.
5. In record keeping and evidence gathering to support the knowledge of students.
6. By ensuring that students behave in accordance with academy policy and reporting any such breaches that cannot be dealt with under your competency.
7. Upholding the ethos and culture of the sixth form.
8. To be an invigilator or exam support to students as required.
9. By undertaking such other duties commensurate with ability as may be reasonably required by the Principal in the pursuit of the Academy’s mission.
University admissions and action-planning
1. To oversee the administration of the UCAS application system within NLA.
2. To assist staff and students with UCAS applications and student finance applications.
3. Provide a personal statement checking services to students, supporting the writing process, offering feedback and checking drafts through one-to-one and group sessions (using Unifrog).
4. To collate, compile and write student references with the assistance of subject tutors, in support of UCAS applications.
5. To deliver workshops to student groups for activities, including applying to university, CV preparation and job seeking skills.
6. To provide advice and guidance through group presentations and one-to-one interviews at pre-entry, on course and progression stages to assess interests, abilities and achievements, review options and realistic planning for action.
7. Monitor the progress of all students applying for university, providing all staff facilitating this process with guidance, support and training.
8. Monitor the progress of student applications though UCAS, setting improvement targets for students and staff as a matter of course.
9. Monitor and report on student achievement in securing university course offers.
10. Monitor the progress of all students applying for apprenticeship vacancies.
11. Deal promptly with concerns and referrals in relation to individual student applications.
12. Plan, arrange and deliver the annual UCAS information evening for parents and contribute significantly to arranging similar evenings or events for specific groups of students and their parents e.g. Oxbridge, Medics, Student Finance etc.
13. To promote and facilitate alternative pathways at 18+ for students whom university is not a preferred option, keeping records and reporting annually on the training and destinations of these students.
14. Communicate effectively with students and their parents or carers where relevant.
15. Directing the electronic records for referencing and creating a user friendly and accessible system for all staff.
16. To develop monitoring systems of continuous quality improvement to ensure that users receive a service of a consistently high quality.
17. Map the destinations of all the students, upon their leaving the Sixth Form.
18. To be responsible for the planning and regular maintenance of the career’s library, information and resources base by actively researching and reviewing the most up to date products and services.
19. Identify staff training and development needs in terms of student careers and progression and run appropriate CPD where necessary.
Information Management
1. To support and contribute to keeping the records on students as requested by the faculty.
2. Supporting the testing of students including base line assessment including the invigilation of students with additional exam requirements.
As a team member
1. To work within the team and to have an area of responsibility, but an understanding and working knowledge of others roles to enable support across the team at times of critical workload.
2. To promote teamwork and work with others to ensure effective working relationships.
3. To participate in the Academy’s Professional Development Review process both in terms of self and other staff as appropriate.
4. To participate in collaborative planning teams with relevant members of the faculty.
Communications
1. To develop and implement effective communication systems and procedures.
2. To communicate and refer any relevant incidents to the Head of Faculty, House Manager, Form Tutor and parents.
Marketing
1. To ensure the promotion of a welcoming environment to students, visitors and callers.
2. To contribute to the creation of an engaging and purposeful learning environment.
3. To support parents evenings and open evenings.
Health and Safety
1. To ensure that all students in your care are safe.
2. To have an understanding of child protection and the actions you must take in given circumstances and the reporting of procedures.
Corporate Responsibility
1. To actively promote the Academy’s corporate policies, e.g. Health & Safety Policy and Equal Opportunities.
Training
1. To continue ones own personal development in relevant areas.
2. To actively engage in, take advantage of opportunities for and contribute to Continuing Professional Development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
