The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is looking to recruit dedicated Security Officers to join our team at the new Community Diagnostic Centre, at Westgate Retail Park, Wakefield.
Working solely at the Westgate Retail Park site, you will become part of a team of security professionals creating a safer and more enjoyable experience for our staff and patients.

This post is offered initially on a 12-month fixed-term contract. 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days over 7 with various shifts between 06:00 am to 22:00 pm.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide a security service at MYTT Community Diagnostics Centre, Cathedral Walk, Wakefield. To provide a comprehensive security service to all patients, staff, and visitors, while maintaining a secure environment with the aid of Closed-Circuit Television.
Job Responsibilities
1. Security staff will be expected to maintain at all times a standard of personal conduct and deportment in keeping with the nature of their duties and the hospital environment.
2. Carry out regular patrols of the site and report any incidents and/or damage in line with Local Operating Procedures.
3. Protection of patients, staff, visitors, contractors, and any other legitimate site users' property against loss, theft, damage, and waste.
4. Manage disturbances and escort unauthorized persons off the premises.
5. Provide a Ward/Department presence in situations where patients and/or visitors are being, or potentially being, violent or aggressive.
6. Handle patients (including out-patients) face-to-face in circumstances involving violent/aggressive behavior using conflict resolution techniques.
7. If required, apply control and restraint techniques as per the approved Care and Responsibility criteria/training.
8. Receive & log complaints of crime from patients/visitors and staff. Carry out investigations of any loss or breaches of security and report to Supervisor as necessary.
9. Provide security assistance as required in accordance with Trust Major Incident Plan, Missing Patient Policy, and Major Non-Clinical Emergency Policy.
10. Ensure the safe custody of all lost/found property out of hours. During working hours, take such property to the General Office.
11. Assist in the passage of critical information when communication systems fail.
12. Ensure the security/safety of the approved helicopter landing site during operations of Air Ambulance helicopters.
13. Use several computerized systems in relation to Security and Car Parking.
14. Report any untoward incidents concerning staff to the Security Supervisor and/or management.
15. Report & log any criminal acts to the Police and the Security Supervisor and/or management.
16. The locking and unlocking of designated areas as required, including lockdown protocols to support CBRN exercises and incidents.
17. Respond as required to fire alarm activations as per Local Operating Procedures.
18. Provide emergency assistance to all staff as required (i.e., major incidents/accidents).
19. Be familiar with local assignment instructions and procedures for reporting incidents.
20. Successfully complete mandatory and annual training directives as required by the contract and the trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: SIA Front Line Licence (Level 2), SIA (PSS) CCTV Licence.
* Desirable: IOSH working safely or equivalent, Health and Safety Level 1, CSCS, First Aid certificate, Conflict Resolution training.
Experience
* Essential: Previous experience within a security environment, previous experience in a customer-facing environment.
* Desirable: Previous supervisory experience, previous NHS security experience, previous armed forces or police employment, operation of CCTV systems.
Skills and Abilities
* Essential: Ability to collate/produce clear and concise professional reports, ability to work with minimum supervision and prioritize workload, able to carry out dynamic risk assessments.
Personal Attributes
* Essential: Able to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and the general public in a courteous and polite manner, have a flexible approach to work.
