We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety, (H&S) Advisor to join our Health, and Safety (H&S) team at our Airdrie site. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional who is passionate about promoting a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace. The H&S Advisor will assist the Group H&S Manager on all matters related to occupational health and safety, general safety practices, and employee wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support Group H&S Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
2. Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across the Airdrie site, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal standards.
3. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
4. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for health, safety, and environmental performance.
5. Assist in the delivery of H&S training programs and toolbox talks to employees, promoting safety awareness and best practices.
6. Collaborate with all departments to ensure that health, safety, and wellbeing standards are fully integrated into daily operations.
7. Participate in emergency response planning and ensure preparedness through regular drills and reviews.
8. Keep up to date with changes in relevant legislation and regulations, advising the Group H&S Manager of necessary updates to company policies and procedures.
9. Participate and assist with various H&S projects across the Airdrie site.
10. Provide guidance on wellbeing initiatives to support the health and mental wellbeing of employees.
Qualifications and Experience
1. A recognized qualification in Health and Safety Management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, NCRQ, or equivalent) is essential and Environmental Qualification (e.g. IEMA) is desirable.
2. Proven experience in a similar H&S or HSE advisory role, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar industrial setting.
3. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with employees at all levels.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with safety management software is a plus.
