Job Title: Pupil Welfare Officer / Learning Assistant

Salary: £23,130 - £24,362 per annum (Term Time Only)
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pupil Welfare Officer / Learning Assistant to join a school in Bracknell. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing the academic and pastoral welfare of students across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and post-16 education. This role involves working closely with staff and external agencies to ensure students' emotional and academic progress, and to provide crucial support where barriers to learning exist.
Pupil Welfare / Learning Assistant Officer Assistant Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in managing pastoral care and welfare for students across various year groups.
* Collaborate with SENCo, Pupil Premium Lead, and Behaviour Support to deliver tailored interventions and alternative provisions.
* Support positive student behaviour through targeted rewards, interventions, and monitoring attendance.
* Maintain accurate records of student behaviour, welfare issues, and interventions. Liaise with parents and external agencies as needed.
* Organize year-group activities, such as trips and enrichment programs.
* Promote student involvement in events like work experience, career guidance, and personal development initiatives.
* Offer direct support to students with welfare concerns, providing guidance and referrals to appropriate services when necessary.
* Mentor underperforming students and assist with safeguarding processes.
Support the School:
* Uphold the values, ethos, and mission of the school in all interactions with students and staff.
* Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and personal development activities.
* Ensure a strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Pupil Welfare Officer / Learning Assistant Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or educational support role.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Ability to motivate and support students, both academically and emotionally.
Pupil Welfare Officer / Learning Assistant Additional Requirements:
* Two satisfactory written references, including one from your current or most recent employer.
* A satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
* Online social media checks will be conducted as part of the recruitment process.
Other Information:
* The role is term-time only and will require occasional involvement in extracurricular activities.
* The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties in line with the school's evolving needs.
