Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Location: County Antrim Department: Manufacturing / Operations Reports to: Engineering Manager Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves analyzing production workflows, troubleshooting issues, and developing solutions to streamline manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and supply chain, to ensure products meet quality standards and are manufactured efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Process Development and Optimization Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and product quality. Conduct time studies and process flow analysis to identify areas for process improvements. Implement Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and drive continuous improvement. Technical Support and Troubleshooting Provide technical support to production teams to resolve issues impacting quality, safety, or efficiency. Investigate production problems and implement corrective actions to address root causes. Conduct root cause analyses for recurring issues and document corrective actions. Quality Assurance and Compliance Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with quality standards, such as ISO or industry-specific certifications. Support the development and implementation of quality control procedures for manufacturing processes. Conduct inspections and audits to ensure production processes meet quality and safety standards. Cost and Resource Management Evaluate manufacturing costs and identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising quality. Recommend and implement cost-effective methods, materials, and equipment. Participate in budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing operations. Documentation and Reporting Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation. Prepare reports on process performance, productivity, and efficiency for management review. Monitor and document key metrics (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and cost. Safety and Regulatory Compliance Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with safety and environmental regulations. Identify potential safety risks and work to mitigate hazards in the production environment. Train staff on safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or similar role in a production environment. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and familiarity with production planning. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Lean Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt). Experience with automated manufacturing systems and robotics. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality management systems. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to manufacturing. Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
