To lead develop, implement, embed, and grow a physical therapies service alongside the Band 7 Occupational Therapist and other members of the team. Work closely with the Occupational Therapist to ensure a consistent and evidence-based approach to service quality and clinical standards. To prioritise own daily workload within the department, working in conjunction with the relevant team members. To be a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and experience within Physiotherapy role. To work collaboratively within the therapy services across the hospices, external care professionals and organisations to develop and establish the service. Demonstrate leadership skills and knowledge within your role by setting high standards of quality and performance. To deliver high quality, clinically effective and evidenced based care and support in accordance with Havens Hospices policies, procedures, and guidelines. To participate in the development and review of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures applicable to the provision of physiotherapy in response to identified need. Undertaking risk assessments and reporting and recording all incidents, accidents and near misses, actively participating in any corrective action required to minimise future risk. To initiate and maintain contact with local and national interest groups relevant to clinical field. Responsible for advanced assessment, clinical and functional diagnosis of patients who have palliative and end of life care needs using a range of highly specialist assessments and clinical observation skills in relation to the BCYP physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional, psychological, and social functioning. To undertake comprehensive profession specific and/or holistic multidisciplinary assessments of BCYP including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to provide an appropriate person-centred treatment programme. To formulate and deliver individual physiotherapy intervention based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options. Using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of specialist treatment skills to promote optimal independence, improve functional capacity and quality of life. To provide for the respiratory needs of the BCYP including the assessment and management of long-term respiratory conditions and acute respiratory exacerbations and infections, suction, cough assist, NIV (CPAP and BIPAP), tracheostomies, manual techniques, and postural drainage. To give advice and training on safe handling and treatment programmes.
