Location: Hastings Dispatch Desk
Hours: (37.5 hours per week)
Course Details: You will join us at our Partner college Crawley – in West Sussex for an initial 7 weeks training course and a more local to home 4 week blue light driving course where you will then be deployed into one of our 14 Dispatch Desks across the South East.
You will work with qualified ambulance personnel for 4 weeks and then return for 1 week to college to consolidate your experience and undertake further training. This pattern will continue for a minimum of 18 months at which point, subject to you completing all of your academic and vocational work, you will sit a final assessment and become an Associate Ambulance Practitioner Band 5. You will be awarded a level 4 AAP certificate which is recognized nationally by all ambulance services.
It is required to hold both English and Maths Qualification but Maths qualification is mandatory requirement at the time of applying/Onboarding.
Main duties of the job
* You must have a genuine desire to serve the Local community. Demonstrate excellent communication skills, willingness to learn, utilise your initiative, common sense and remain calm under pressure, whilst providing a patient focused approach with a caring and empathetic nature.
* You will join us as a trainee and work on an emergency ambulance with a trained colleague attending urgent and emergency calls.
* You will be working a full range of shifts covering 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. For the first 18 months you will work a relief rota where you will know what days you are off but not what times you are working on each day.
Requirements:
* GCSE Maths and English, Grade A-C (4-9) or above (or equivalent). Or Level 2 English and Maths.
* A full and current driving licence, held for at least one year, with no more than 3 penalty points. CandidatesMUST obtain a C1 FULL licence before commencing employment with the Trust - support is available with this on application.
* Demonstrate a stable employment and attendance history, Evidence of working with general public for at least 2 years.
* If you have misplaced your certificates, please request copies from relevant examination board and upload a statement detailing this to the application form as required. It is mandatory to have certificates.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Ensure the safe transfer of patients to and from vehicles, following health and safety and other appropriate protocols and procedures, taking account of the safety of patients, self, colleagues and others, using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
* Undertake the full range of duties associated with the scope of practice of the role, practicing autonomously as part of an operational crew; or in other appropriate areas/vehicles with the exception of SRV or SORT Cars, and/or emergency/urgent care settings, as per Trust standard operational instructions.
* Carry out duties commensurate with SECAmb Scope of Practice & Clinical Standards Policy, practice guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) & JRCALC national guidance.
* Use appropriate training and experience, knowledge and skills when working with new staff, promoting competence and confidence in undertaking clinical procedures and utilising appropriate equipment.
* At all times exhibit and comply with the Trust’s values, standards of personal and professional conduct and performance. Take part in activities that lead to personal and/or team growth.
* The post holder is required to drive under emergency “Blue Light” conditions.
* During the college attendance dates no annual leave will be authorised. College attendance is mandatory 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications
* Functional Skills English level 2 / or GCSE grade 4 and above.
* Functional Skills Maths level 2 / or GCSE grade 4 and above.
* B1 Licence, Must have held full manual driving licence for minimum of 1 year. Licence must be current, valid in the UK with no more than 3 points at the time of application.
* Evidence of working in a public facing role for at least 2 years.
* Evidence of desire to care and help the community.
* Evidence of understanding of role.
* Demonstration of Secamb Values basic.
* c1 Provisional licence- (Score1), c1 awaiting Practical /Full c1- (Score 2).
Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
