Key Responsibilities:
* Provides analytical cost estimates and tenders for a variety of build projects, from initial enquiry to tender submission.
* Analyzes drawings, specifications, and proposals to determine project requirements.
* Collaborates with team members to ensure accurate and competitive pricing from external suppliers or sub-contractors.
* Participates in design development to assess buildability, materials, innovation, and cost effectiveness of proposals, providing high-level pricing information early in the tender process.
* Coordinates all costs and compiles quotation documents and packages for customer submission.
* Responsible for writing tender documents and preparing tender packs.
* Prepares post-bid submissions and organizes responses to requests for clarification.
* Conducts research and gathers data on materials, transport, equipment, and labor costs.
* Prepares detailed cost estimates, including material quantity take-offs, labor rates, and equipment costs.
* Demonstrates commercial awareness of contractual terms, particularly those related to cost terms in NEC contracts.
* Assesses project risks and develops contingency plans.
* Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
* Participates in pre-tender meetings and bid reviews.
* Maintains and updates historical cost data and estimating software.
* Familiarity with various estimating methods, including lump sum, cost reimbursable, cost-plus, unit price, and target cost estimating.
Qualifications:
* Holds a Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, or civil engineering, or a related field.
* Extensive experience leading cost estimating services on large-scale and complex projects, programs, and portfolios in an engineering or technical environment, preferably in the nuclear industry.
* Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
