The post holder will supportthe Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Coordinator to ensure a high quality antenatal and Newborn screening service is provided for all women and their families.
To achieve this theAntenatal and Newborn ScreeningTeam work in collaboration with NHSE Quality Assurance leads to monitor the quality and effectiveness of the screening services offered in the Trust and areconsistent with the UK National Screening Committee recommendations (UKNSC) and NHSE programme standards, to meet the national service specification and thresholds set (except the Newborn hearing screening programme as this is managed within Tees Valley).
The post holder will support the ANNB Screening Coordinator to (deputising in his/her absence)to:
· Manage screen positive results across the screening pathways.
· Counsel women and their families in the event of an increased chance, antenatal screen positive result and fetal anomaly.
· Collect and collate matched cohort screening data for quarterly and annual data KPI returns.
· Write and present screening programme reports at local, regional and national level.
· Participate in audit, education of staff and guideline development.
· Regularly review and implement new processes/systems/fail-safes to reduce risk in antenatal and new-born screening.
· Support the fetal medicine service as required.
· Prepare for and attend relevant internal and external meetings e.g. Regional ANNB board meetings, local quarterly ANNB Screening meeting, regional fetal medicine.
· Act as an excellent clinical role model and practice autonomously within the parameters of guidelines/policies and sphere of professional practice

· To work with the ANNB Screening Coordinator as a skilled practitioner ensuring that ANNB Screening is available for all women, infants, and their families.
· Support the ANNB Screening Coordinator to lead an effective Screening service for the Trust.
· Act as a resource to the Maternity Services multi-disciplinary team and be actively involved in multidisciplinary and patient safety forums.
· To work as an autonomous, competent practitioner, fulfilling the role of the midwife in accordance with the NMC Code:Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates(2015)
· Contribute to the development of ANNB screening policies and guidelines, audit, and research within the maternity services.
· Identify personal learning needs and further develop professional knowledge as required.
· Communicate effectively with women, their families and within the multi-professional health care team.
· Support and work as required across maternity services.
· Meet the NMC requirements to maintain registration and maintain professional development in line with revalidation.
