Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for an applied statistician to join our global Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) group, dedicated to supporting the development of manufacturing and associated processes required to bring a physical medicinal product to market.
The role will require collaborating with scientists, often in multidisciplinary teams, providing statistical support to project teams, developing the active pharmaceutical ingredient, and formulating it into medicines for many diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
* Work with GSK scientists and leadership to answer pivotal CMC questions using statistical techniques.
* Pinpoint major scientific inquiries that can benefit from statistical approaches and propose implementation strategies.
* Employ established statistical techniques or innovate novel methodologies to tackle scientific issues.
* Present statistical principles, designs, and results transparently and precisely to GSK researchers and management across all levels.
* Participate with fellow statisticians on departmental projects, such as enhancing specific technical abilities or consulting skills, and driving insight.
* Collaborate with other in-house quantitative groups to achieve shared goals.
Why You?
Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field with formal statistical training.
* Evidence of innovation and technical strength in advanced statistical modelling and/or design of experiments.
* Experience writing code in R.
Preferred Requirements:
Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
* Interest in applying statistics to engineering, chemistry, biology, manufacturing and CMC.
* The capability to clearly communicate both new and established statistical methods to scientists, managers, and other statisticians in both written and spoken English.
* Skilled in choosing and employing statistical techniques effectively to address complex scientific questions.
* Influence non-statisticians to adopt better statistical practices.
* Quick and independent acquisition of new statistical knowledge and skills.
* Familiarity with and application of statistical approaches in areas including but not limited to experimental design, mixed models, Bayesian statistics, linear regression, repeated measures, machine learning algorithms, simulations, and high-dimensional data analyses.
