The post holder will provide professional, clinical, and managerial leadership within Maternity Services and provide both safe and high standards of clinical care. They will act as a role model to provide excellent clinical leadership to midwifery and nursing staff. The post holder will have expert clinical knowledge, being able to lead and teach other Midwives in advancing the midwifery service. As an expert, the post holder must have wide experience of maternity services. The post holder will lead on the continual development of staff within their remit and will play a pivotal role in the implementation of existing National. To have continuing responsibility for effective professional, clinical leadership and management of maternity areas acting as a role model. To take the lead in developing midwifery care, empowering staff to promote and implement change management, promoting a positive pregnancy and birth experience for all women. To empower staff to create an environment, which is challenging, stimulating and supportive to individuals, promoting lifelong learning in the improvement of patient care. To be visible To ensure the development, implementation, and regular review of guidelines/standard operating procedures, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Ensure staff receive training in the management of obstetric/neonatal emergencies. To develop managerial and professional partnerships To work in partnership with the University and Midwifery Education Team/Practice Education Facilitators to ensure that clinical practice reflects the needs of the students. Act as a role model through the provision of effective professional leadership and demonstration of competent and accountable midwifery practice. The post is rotational, thus the post holder will be required to rotate through inpatient and outpatient settings supporting the service as necessary. Maintain working relationships with the LMNS, Director of Midwifery/Deputy/ Head of Midwifery, SaTH Matrons, MVP chairs and group, and wider external organisations.
