Our client is an excellent school providing education to students aged 4-16. A particularly attractive aspect of this school is their approach to delivering learning and supporting children, which is done so with a holistic approach. Through this approach, learning is delivered with a balanced & rounded academic curriculum alongside pastoral & spiritual development.
The school opened its doors in 2019 and is now operating in their 5th academic year. They are part of a large & locally based, forward-thinking, and very supportive academy trust. This is a school that has steadily shown improvement through student attainment and staff development since its inception. Due to the manner in which children are supported, this has been a key contributor to their successes.
Led by an approachable headteacher, welcoming colleagues, and set in beautiful surroundings with period buildings, this really is a fantastic all-round opportunity for an able & passionate person looking to support young people in their development. Future development opportunities would likely be available within the trust as they grow & develop. The school has good transport links by road, rail & bus. There is also abundant free parking onsite.
This is a great school to work at, and they pride themselves on delivering education to support development not just through academic studies.
The school is recruiting for an inspiring and able English Teacher to deliver teaching & learning across Key Stages 3 & 4 to join the team initially on a fixed-term contract basis. This is to add extra capacity to the English team and release the 'Head of Core' to other duties. All of the schemes of work and lesson plans are already prepared. The role will involve planning (adapting), teaching & assessment as well as attending meetings and any other responsibilities of an employed teaching colleague. This role is intended to run for the full academic year 2024/2025 and may transfer to a permanent contract with the school from September 2025.
Although the school is seeking a teacher that holds UK QTS, has UK teaching experience and good curriculum knowledge, they can also consider an applicant that has previous experience of delivering the UK National Curriculum at a UK school but doesn't hold UK QTS. Applicants with this background would need to be willing to gain QTS via the Assessment Only (AO) route.
To be considered for the AO route, the following criteria need to be fulfilled:
1. Immediately available
2. Residing in the UK (Exeter area or able to reside in the area)
3. Has Right to Work in the UK without requiring employer sponsorship
4. Previous experience of teaching UK curriculum
5. Able to work full-time
6. Willingness to gain QTS via the Assessment Only (AO) route
The school will follow a selection process which includes delivering an observed lesson, meeting the team, meeting students, and a colleague interview as well as a show around the school with the headteacher. The successful candidate will be engaged on a trial period of 60 days and then on satisfactory completion, transfer to a permanent contract. The successful candidate will be paid at scale rate from the start of the trial period.
Elementa is the recruiting partner, and all applicants still being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to undergo the school's vetting & compliance process. This includes full vetting & background checks, referencing, and application for a DBS Enhanced Disclosure (which may be chargeable at £53.20) unless you have a current DBS Enhanced Disclosure subscribed to the update service. A clear DBS certificate is highly desirable; however, a positive DBS certificate is not an absolute barrier to being considered.
All applicants will be promptly responded to. Please apply including your full & up-to-date CV or recent school's application form.
