The role:
Simmons Wavelength is the home of legal engineering at Simmons & Simmons; using data engineering, process optimisation and creative design to deliver digitised solutions for our clients.
We exist because the business of law is continually evolving; the scale, complexity and urgency of legal work is accelerating. New approaches to these challenges are needed.
We are currently looking for a dynamic Senior Legal Engineer to join our growing Legal Engineering team.
Joining one of our market-facing scrum teams, Legal Engineers deliver challenging, client-facing projects, using tools and skills to unlock new value, efficiencies and insights.
What will you do:
1. Play an active role in the design, planning and execution of client projects as part of an agile multi-functional team.
2. Understand and analyse legal/business processes using advanced process mapping skills or other visualisation methods.
3. Understand the Generative AI and AI technology market on a regular basis and maintain a thorough understanding of the biggest market players and technologies; organise demos to keep up to date.
4. Deliver client solutions using the Microsoft suite (including Power Platforms) alongside other technology platforms such as HighQ, Contract Express, Relativity, and Kira.
5. Use information to critically assess options and to articulate and support the potential range of approaches that could be applied to problem solving.
6. Serve as the internal "Voice of Customer" by regularly sharing product feedback and collaborating with our Product team to improve the AI product.
7. Actively participate in our Wavelength Academy to grow and share skills and expertise contributing to team-wide professional development.
8. Stay up-to-date on product releases and learning the latest product functionality.
9. A willingness to flex and apply your skills to business activity in a way that meets the evolving and growing needs of our business.
What we are looking for:
1. Has 5+ years of experience of working in the legal sector, preferably with a focus on AI and tech.
2. Has a deep understanding of AI-driven legal tools and their application in the legal sector.
3. Has experience of working with legal processes, data, design or technology.
4. Has excellent listening skills, and an ability to summarise complex information.
5. Thrives in a team environment, wants to be part of a diverse and inclusive team and has great interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Can multitask and is proactive when it comes to projects; displays a willingness to understand the client's needs.
7. Has excellent stakeholder management skills and can communicate advanced concepts clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders.
