As our UK portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced UK Legal Counsel to enhance our legal capabilities within the country. This role is based in the UK, working closely with our local operating teams while maintaining strong collaboration with the central Legal Department in Paris.
Role Overview
As UK Legal Counsel, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team of the firm UK & Ireland, providing expert legal advice on a broad range of matters relating to UK operations. You will work cross-functionally with business stakeholders to support legal and regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and enable strategic initiatives.
Your expertise will cover commercial and insurance law, contract law, company law, and data protection law, with the exception of tax and employment law.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide legal support on UK law matters to the firm’s Group Legal Team, UK entities, and relevant departments.
2. Advise on general commercial law, insurance law, and GDPR compliance.
3. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, including insurance policies, supplier agreements, and partnership contracts.
4. Support the development and structuring of credit insurance products, business information services, and debt collection solutions.
5. Assist in drafting insurance policies for financial institutions, political risk coverage, and multinational clients.
6. Provide legal guidance on relationships and agreements with brokers and insurance agents.
7. Monitor regulatory developments and ensure that the firm remains compliant with UK legal requirements.
8. Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, offering strategic legal insights and risk assessments.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a proactive and solution-oriented legal professional with a strong background in commercial and insurance law.
1. UK-qualified solicitor (SQE/QLTS or equivalent).
2. Strong academic background in law (College of Law: LL.B., LL.M.).
3. Significant post-qualification experience, ideally gained in:
* An international law firm, or
* An in-house role within a banking or insurance institution.

3. Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills.
4. Organised and methodical approach, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

6. Agile mindset, with a pragmatic and solutions-driven approach.
This role is certified under the SMCR (Senior Managers and Certification Regime).
