What will I be doing?
As a Sales Manager for The Caledonian Edinburgh, you will be responsible for the Group MICE delivery focusing on key feeder markets within UK Domestic, European and International territories including US Incentive Travel. You will have the responsibility of supporting the GC&E Sales Team through developing new business opportunities whilst driving strategies, activities & initiatives to retain and grow our business and:
- Develop key new business opportunities to secure new business & partnerships.
- Identify key customer opportunities and build a plan to target agencies and corporate clients through proactive sales approaches.
- Position the hotel to the market with a focus on business development.
- Building a strong database for clients in the UK, Europe and US.
- Maintain existing client base whilst growing our share of the business & identifying new customers.
- Support conversion of direct enquiries with large emphasis on driving new leads.
- Create & coordinate prospecting and sales blitzes, through targeting new accounts, lots and turn down leads and repeat events.
- Create & coordinate Bring Back Old Business blitzes.
- Review all segments to identify which industries are currently producing.
- Develop a strong sales and marketing plan on how you will penetrate your markets through calls, site inspections, familiarisation trips and entertainment.
- Continually audit our business mix to ensure we have the right business segments to deliver exceptional results.
- Ensure systems are in place to offer cross-sell opportunities to new & existing customers.
- Attend and participate in sales initiatives, customer appointments & tradeshows as required.
- Take responsibility for the activation of the hotel overall MICE sales strategy in conjunction with the Director of Sales.
- Manage the relationship between on property sales & above property i.e. Hilton Worldwide Sales / Area Sales Office / Klarent Sales Leaders.
Please note that within this role there is often frequent travel required throughout the UK, Europe and International Markets.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in the MICE market and existing relationships with relevant agencies & corporate clients.
- A strong knowledge of incentive travel, DMC relationships and city partners to win business to Edinburgh with The Caledonian Edinburgh at the heart of the program.
- Excellent communication skills; presentations, written and public speaking.
- Ability to cold call clients for prospecting purposes
- Ability to direct collaboration among cross-functional teams including external resources.
- Ability to analyse departmental financial data in order to make strategic and tactical decisions.
- Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behaviour and absolute discretion with sensitive information.
- Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritise and implement actions required to achieve functional goals.
- Proven understanding of client’s business and category, including business plans, competitive environment & distribution channels and product financials.
- Extensive understanding of local market and industry in order to make recommendations on how to achieve the budget.
- Ability to recommend segmentation and targeting proposals and to assess marketing implications and aggressively manage to ensure profitability.
- An excellent team player who leads by example to resolve conflicts, introduce change and ensure collaboration among others.
- Budget development and management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage the work of others.
- Strong problem-solving skills including ability to address any issue in collaboration with others, identify and prevent potential problems and develop problem solving skills in others.
- Ability to provide development and mentoring to others, leading by example as a brand ambassador.
- University degree at bachelor level or equivalent or experience in lieu thereof.
