Sounds awesome, but what would you be doing in this role?
The Senior Designer collaborates with engineers, project managers, clients and others to produce detailed design documents and assists with the project throughout the construction phase.
Using various industry software, they play a critical role in creating plans, drawings, and specifications ensuring all designs adhere to GEL design principles, client requirements, and any relevant codes and standards. They will perform various engineering calculations and assist with equipment or material selection as required. Receiving direction from the Design Manager and/or the Engineer, the Senior Designer will utilize their design and communication skills to meet project milestones as assigned by Engineer/Project Manager and/or Design Manager.
The Senior Designer will spend most of their time on their computer completing design work but will also perform site visits independently and/or with their team members. Mandatory Health & Safety training will be required for this role along with Security Clearances if deemed necessary by project.

What qualifications would you need to be successful in this role?
1. Completion of a 2- or 3-year Diploma with Mechanical Engineering Technology (or other relevant post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering)
2. 3-5 years relevant working experience as a Designer in an Engineering Consulting firm
3. Industrial, Commercial and Residential building design experience considered an asset.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, and Carrier HAP
5. Strong understanding and working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, Ontario Building Code.
