We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant for 1:1 support of a complex needs pupil to join a special needs school in Harlow. This full-time role involves working closely with a child with complex needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive in their learning environment. As part of a supportive team, you will play a crucial role in the child’s educational journey, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their personal and academic goals.
The working hours are from 8:50 am to 3:40 pm, with one extended day finishing at 4:10 pm. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs. Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one support for a student with complex learning needs, ensuring their engagement in learning activities.
* Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the student’s specific needs.
* Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Support the student with their daily routines, including personal care if required.
* Monitor the student’s progress and communicate regularly with teachers and parents.
* Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive manner, promoting positive interactions.
* Ensure the student’s well-being and safety at all times during school hours.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in a 1:1 support capacity.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with complex needs.
* Ability to work well as part of a team, collaborating with teachers and support staff.
* Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals.
* Experience in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive manner.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are desirable.
