To work as a proactive member of the waste management team, managing the operation of the Household Waste & Recycling Centers, ensuring that the sites achieve a high recovery rate contributing to Merthyr Tydfil achieving waste-related targets.
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing the operations and staff at the sites.
2. Ensuring that the HWRCs are operating in compliance with the site permit requirements at all times.
3. Controlling material input and export at the sites in accordance with the waste hierarchy.
4. Recording and reporting material throughputs in accordance with legislation and council policies.
5. Ensuring markets are available for all materials collected at the sites.
6. Ensuring that there is always capacity for the acceptance of materials.
7. Developing and improving the performance of the sites, operationally and in relation to legislative targets.
8. Preparing reports as required.
9. Attending relevant meetings where required.
10. Ensuring the efficient operation of both HRCs.
11. Achieving a high level of recovery (Preparation for Re-use, Recycling, or Composting) at both sites.
12. Ensuring that sites are always kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
