Registered Manager – Therapeutic Children’s Home

Park Blue Homes has an exciting opportunity for a Therapeutic Children’s Home Registered Manager to join our company in the Swindon area.
This is a unique and rare opportunity to join a progressive and trauma-informed group of Children’s Homes with a focus on upholding the values and guidelines of a Therapeutic Community. The home is a five-bed residential home specializing in providing care for young people with emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties.
Salary: up to £48,000 per annum, including bonuses, pension, and other benefits. 35 days annual leave including bank holidays. There will be other benefits included with this role including a laptop, mobile phone, and some remote working.

* Managers will have autonomy in their Homes and be actively involved in the decision making around admissions, staffing, training, policies, finance and paperwork.
Park Blue Homes are looking for an experienced and professional Manager with the ability to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview. This role would be suitable for experienced deputies or senior staff that are wanting the next progression. Park Blue Homes have a successful 12-week step up and mentoring programme for those candidates that feel they may need a little extra support in the beginning.
This role is a key leadership role. The Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Home, ensuring all children and staff are sufficiently safeguarded, supervising and mentoring team members and all other operational tasks related to the managing of the Home.
What are the main duties of a Registered Manager?
1. To be responsible for the management, coordination, and development of a range of quality therapeutic services for young people that live at our Home.
2. To ensure the Home exceeds all standards as stated in the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and all other legislation relevant to the therapeutic care of our children.
3. To promote relationships as central to the working practice of our Homes. Taking an empathetic and engaging approach to working in partnership with young people, their families, professionals, and other agencies, in order to meet the needs of young people.
4. To provide effective, empathetic, and dynamic leadership.
5. To promote team development and effective team working. To understand the impacts of vicarious trauma and how this can affect the internal workings of the team. To promote the company’s staff wellbeing programme.
6. To take the lead in reflective practice ensuring that team members and those around the child are reflective of their work encouraging them to integrate and uphold our therapeutic thinking.
7. To ensure that our Statement of Purpose and all statutory and relevant paperwork is reflective of our therapeutic practice outlining how we will meet the needs of the young people within our care.
8. To coordinate and organise an efficient staff rota, taking into account the needs of the children balanced with the staff work-life balance.
9. To ensure that all team members have meaningful supervision and be confident in their ability to encourage team members to think about how therapeutic approaches can be applied in their practical and paperwork.
10. To identify those that may need support and have the ability to implement this to support their team.
11. To be responsible for quality inductions for their staff team, to devote time and effort to each new staff member ensuring they feel effective and confident in their roles.
12. To actively participate in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, wellness and other staffing matters with support from the operations team.
13. To ensure that all Health and Safety Regulations, including fire, medication, vehicles and all premises are followed in accordance with Park Blue Homes’s policies, procedures and practices.
14. To ensure that all finance budgets, control, administration and records comply with Park Blue Ltd’s procedures.
15. To promote and implement the company’s policies and procedures and ensuring that they are attachment-based and trauma-informed.
Skills and Qualifications
* MUST have experience in Residential Children’s Social Care with a minimum of two years’ experience, ideally as a deputy or senior member of staff.
* An understanding of Trauma Informed Care and therapeutic background. A working knowledge of PACE and effective understanding of what a therapeutic placement looks like for children is advantageous or a willingness to learn.
* Strong leadership and effective communication skills with a very nurturing side and strong interpersonal skills.
* Hold a Level 3 NVQ diploma in Residential Childcare/Health and Social Care Children’s Workforce (Or equivalent) OR have a NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare or equivalent or be willing to work towards this qualification within two years of working at Park Blue Homes.
* MUST have at least one year’s experience in a management and supervisory role.
* Be able and willing to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview.
* UK Driving License.
* Confidence and Understanding of The Children’s Home Regulations and all legislation associated with the running of a registered Children’s Home.
* Confidence when dealing with people, the ability to challenge, guide and mentor.
* A clear DBS and positive references from all companies where you have worked with children or vulnerable adults.
* The ability and strength of character to deal with challenging situations in a non-consequential and nurturing way with the confidence to set appropriate boundaries and implement the communities’ policies and procedures.
