The Technician will provide first-line technical support and back up to his fellow colleagues. The technician will deputize in the absence of the LPG Terminal production manager and respond to the daily functions of the department.
Lead Technician Responsibilities:
• Operational Support: Assist with team operational activities, reporting directly to the LPG Terminal Production Manager.
• Team Management: Lead and support the operations team, providing training and guidance as needed.
• Deputy Site Controller: Serve as the Site Controller in the absence of the LPG Manager.
• Site Safety and Operations: Ensure site safety and oversee safe control of all operations.
• Preparation of Operations: Assist in preparing routine and non-routine operations for approval.
• Onsite Competence: Act as the competent person onsite during both routine and non-routine operations.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support to colleagues on site.
• Documentation and Records: Accurately complete all necessary documentation and maintain records.
• Emergency Call-Out Duty: Participate in the emergency call-out duty rota as the Duty Officer (Plant).
• Permit Issuance: Issue permits to work in accordance with company policies.
• Workload Management: Support the Plant Manager in planning and managing the Shire System CMMS workload.
• Policy Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in line with company policies and procedures.
• Risk Assessments: Undertake work-based risk assessments.
• Pressure Systems: Oversee the commissioning and decommissioning of pressure systems through safe operations.
• Maintenance and Technical Issues: Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure continuous operation.
• Uninterrupted Gas Supply: Ensure uninterrupted gas supplies through safe operations.
• LPG Ship Discharge Operations: Supervise LPG ship discharge operations and oversee jetty operators.
• Emergency Duty Rota: Participate in a 1 in 4 duty emergency rota.
• Responsible for the Management of Plant team in the absence of the LPG Manager during holidays or sick leave.
• Contribute and support the LPG Manager in the successful management of the HS&E and Risk in the department – no improvement notices.
• The post holder will be responsible for their own health and safety and the impact of their advice and actions on others and seeks guidance as appropriate. They will be responsible for identifying any possible risks or near misses via the Hazard reporting procedure.
Minimum Requirements:
• Undertake training and assessment as required to provide or confirm competence for the range of tasked activity.
• IOSH Managing Safety
• At least 5 years’ experience in a gas or similar industry
• Demonstrate a good knowledge of mechanical plant operation and maintenance.
• Proven experience of emergency processes in the mains, LPG and/or Plant.
• Effective communication skills with colleagues, public, contractors and consultants.
• Have appropriate technical, operational and process knowledge relevant to Gas and LPG.
• Be able to demonstrate and understand Technical/Engineering Standards and Codes of Practice applied within the gas industry.
• Be able to demonstrate and evidence understanding with all health and Safety & Environment legislation.
• Possess the knowledge and skills to be capable of completing all job documentation.
• Be able to demonstrate a thorough grasp of health & Safety principles and knowledge of all relevant statutory legislation.
• Proved ability for unique approach and decisions taking in urgent situations.
• Ability to see and reassess priorities whilst being resilient and able to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative with a flexible and reliable approach.
