What We Are Looking For...
Job Overview
The QC Inspector will be responsible for carrying out the quality control process, organizing and carrying out the daily inspection of deliveries, and ensuring all products meet River Island's high standards before reaching our customers. The QC inspector will also support the processing of returns and faulty product analysis at our Milton Keynes DC.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Assurance:
1. Carry out daily inspections of incoming deliveries across clothing and non-clothing to ensure product meets agreed quality, sizing and finish standards.
2. Work to agreed sampling plan and complete detailed inspection reports for review by Head Office team.
3. Liaise with HO team to agree inspection priorities and follow up any faults found.
4. Track supplier performance using Cliv portal to identify recurring issues and support HO team to set action plans for improvement.
5. Liaise with HO team to implement preventative measures with suppliers based on quality data.
6. Support RTV process, ensuring decisions are made promptly, debit note raised and stock leaves DC within required timelines.
7. Collaborate with GXO warehouse colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
8. Host supplier visits to view rejected stock where necessary, in conjunction with QC Manager and Garment Tech.
Support the Returns and Salvage Dept to ensure write offs are minimised:
1. Support Returns Dept SOP by monitoring and auditing the returns process, reviewing manufacturing faults and write offs to ensure returns are correctly categorised.
2. Update returns SOPs as required to ensure all product categories are correctly processed.
3. Identify quality/fault trends.
4. Liaise with HO team to ensure information is shared and any necessary actions taken.
5. Communicate effectively with management at all levels.
6. Build strong working relationships with third-party warehouse colleagues.
Required Experience and Skills
1. Proven experience as a QC Inspector within the fashion retail industry, with at least 10 years' experience.
2. Strong knowledge of sampling systems and data management.
3. Strong understanding of garment construction, materials, and quality standards.
4. Experience in preparing and delivering comprehensive quality reports.
5. Ability to identify quality and fault trends and recommend process improvements.
6. Experience working in a fast-paced distribution environment.
7. Excellent communication skills across all levels of an organization.
8. Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
9. Experience working with third-party logistics providers preferred.
