Under general direction, provide engineering skills to assist in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions requiring the development or sustaining of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products.
Assist in planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.
Qualifications and Experience
Engineering degree, 2:1 classification or above.
Commercial experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer post-graduation.
Duties
1. Analyse, design, develop, and maintain industrial products.
2. Design, produce analyses, mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those.
3. Produce hand calculations to support initial design concepts.
4. Have a good knowledge of a FEA package (Ansys preferred).
5. Possess good working knowledge of 3D CAD software, ideally ProE.
6. Understand tolerances, limits and fits, and machining processes.
7. Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing and may be required to set up and run lab simulations.
8. Design testing procedures and coordinate with others to perform tests.
9. Conduct tests, document test results, and develop client presentations.
10. Present solutions to clients.
11. Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and other artifacts.
12. Ensure commitments are agreed, reviewed, and met.
