A Secondary School based in North Birmingham is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and dynamic individual to join their Academy as the PA to the Headteacher covering a maternity leave. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting the Headteacher. The role will start ASAP and is Monday to Friday, 8.00 am - 4pm, term time only.
Your new role
You will be providing full administration support to the Head Teacher of the school. This will include diary management, minute taking, and typing letters as well as supporting with HR duties. The role will entail:
1. Providing an efficient and confidential administrative/secretarial service to the Headteacher, including drafting outgoing correspondence, papers, and school documents as directed.
2. Attending meetings as required, preparing agendas, papers, and supporting documentation, as well as taking minutes and following up on action points where necessary.
3. Maintaining the Headteacher’s diary, arranging appointments, prioritising meetings, and ensuring the Headteacher is adequately briefed.
4. Making travel arrangements for the Headteacher.
5. Managing verbal and written communications on behalf of, and in conjunction with, the Headteacher, ensuring the highest quality presentation of documents.
6. Acting as the first point of contact within the school for staff, parents, and others seeking contact with the Headteacher.
7. Maintaining health and safety records, undertaking risk assessments for school visits, and supporting the site management team in preparing documentation for health and safety audits.
8. Managing and checking the recruitment process in line with Trust policy, including undertaking relevant checks and maintaining the Single Central Record.
9. Monitoring sickness levels of staff and taking appropriate action.
10. Participating in the induction of new staff, ensuring mandatory training is complete.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have worked as a PA, preferably within an education setting or similar, and have recent satisfactory references carrying out this role. You will also have a current enhanced DBS in order to start the placement immediately.
