Job Title: Post-16 Programme Lead Reports to: Principal Contract: Full Time, (37.5 hours), Permanent Pay Scale: £27,000 - £30,000 Location: Headingley, Leeds Start Date: ASAP MLK Search takes great pride in supporting this Specialist Post-16 Institution and registered charity in appointing a new Post-16 Programme Lead to support young adults, aged 16- 25, to gain the social and employability skills they need to find and sustain paid employment. They run two principle programmes: Pre-internship: this lasts for 10 months and is primarily based on the college site, but includes regular trips and business visits, as well as inviting external business speakers in Supported internship: this lasts for 10 months and includes 3 days a week on site with a major local employer The Programme Lead will be responsible for a newly created post in working with a pre-internship cohort supporting basic skills and the general understanding of employability and professional interactions. Main eligibility criteria are that students want to progress to paid work; have an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan); are autistic and/or have mild to moderate learning difficulties or other support needs. The Charity is relentless in helping their students gain the experience, skills, confidence, and self-esteem that will prepare them for the world of work. They have exceedingly high success rates in terms of helping students move into employment or specialist training and, in February 2023, were rated 'Good' by Ofsted with Outstanding in two categories. They are confident that this has already moved towards Outstanding in all areas Based primarily at the college site, your role is to support and lead a team of Job Coaches and Assistants to: develop positive relationships with interns; and create strong partnerships with organisations that can support the programme. You will lead effective delivery of the pre-internship programme and ensure framework is followed by all parties; adhere to the Preparation for Adulthood agenda, ensuring that all interns are making sufficient progress against their assigned outcomes and targets. Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to design and develop the second year of the Pre-Internship programme and lead the staff team to embed and deliver. Skills and Qualifications A good standard of education to at least GCSE level or equivalent. A formal teaching or coaching qualification would be highly desirable. Previous experience within a SEN setting as a teacher, coach, or programme lead/manager. Successful track record in working with students, parents/carers, and multi-disciplinary teams to support student progress. Successful experience in curriculum design and development, particularly within a 1-1/small group envrionment. Ideally this will have been working with those with Autism/learning difficulties.
