We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Kirkham, a category D prison located in Lancashire.
HMP Kirkham is an open prison for males that has a strong focus on rehabilitation, allowing inmates to gain qualifications and join workshops.
Hours
Monday - Friday - 0800 - 1900
Weekends & Bank Holidays - 0800 - 1200
37.5 hours per week
Salary
This position is full time, with an annual salary up to £33,232 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
* Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
* Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge
* Work with individuals providing advice, support, and information, managing a caseload of patients
* Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision, and evidence-based care
* Share knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other

Qualifications required:
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Experience of working with patients face to face who have complex mental health conditions
* Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work, and awareness of substance misuse
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
