As a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant in the Surgical Referrals Unit at Basildon Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting patients who are undergoing or recovering from surgical procedures. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will provide essential patient care under the guidance of registered nurses ensuring high standards of care throughout the patientâs surgical journey.
Your duties will include providing pressure area care, recognising abnormal skin conditions, and assessing pain using simple scoring methods, escalating concerns when necessary. You will assist with end-of-life care, prepare equipment for aseptic procedures, and undertake simple wound dressings.
You will support patients during clinical procedures, ensuring dignity and comfort, and assist with oxygen delivery, ECG recording, and patient orientation to the ward.
In addition, you will contribute to the smooth running of the unit, collaborate with the clinical team, and adhere to Trust policies and procedures, ensuring to model the Trust Values at all times: Excellent, Compassionate, Respectful.

Carry out assigned clerical tasks as directed by a registered nurse.
