MS532 - Senior Engineering Surveyor
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £70,000 per annum DOE
Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Engineering Surveyor on behalf of one of our clients. Support the Chief Engineering Surveyor and/or the Engineering Survey Manager in co-ordination across all technical work streams, during each stage of a project from PQQ through to construction. Technical work streams may include but are not limited to all engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management, and industrialisation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. If managing a team, ensure that they have the correct training/knowledge in how to work safely.
2. Develop their engineering survey teams to meet project needs.
3. Ensure that the project has the appropriate survey control network to fulfil the construction requirements.
4. Setting out the works in accordance with the contract requirements before work is programmed to commence.
5. Share expert advice and guidance to the members of the engineering survey teams and other parts of the business related to engineering surveying and geospatial best practice.
6. Provide a topographical survey in preparation for engineering works on site, setting out for the works, reports and measures, and final survey information.
7. Review with the engineering team that sufficient information is available and in the correct format to set out the works in accordance with the programme and to resolve any inconsistencies in the information provided including feedback on any changes made.
8. Provide expert advice and estimation of cost to the project team on site geospatial needs and requirements.
9. Ensure that the Geospatial technical expertise is available for the project.
10. Ensure that advances in technology are used to optimise operational efficiency and are cost efficient.
11. The ability to lead the engineering survey requirements on a project without assistance.
12. The implementation of the engineering surveying 2022 strategy.
13. Ensure that the project has the appropriate survey control network to undertake their operational tasks.
14. Manage the topographic survey deliverables required by the designer.
15. Manage the technical skills of the engineering survey project team and implement improvement plans.
16. Measure the performance of setting out errors and BIM savings.
17. Measure the commercial cost of surveying.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Degree in Land Surveying or Engineering Surveying (Desirable) or ONC/B Tec in Land Surveying or Engineering Surveying and previous experience as a Senior Engineering Surveyor.
2. Extensive awareness of appropriate survey instruments, software, and working methods.
3. Full professional membership of CICES or equivalent body (Desirable).
4. People management skills.
5. Commercial acumen.
6. Project based, UK travel will be required to the project, normally static for 2 years.
7. Valid UK driving licence required.
