CNC Recruitment are seeking for skilled Press Brake Operators for our client in Bridport area - a well-respected metal fabrication manufacturer. As a Press Brake Operator, your primary responsibility is to operate machinery used for bending and shaping metal sheets and plates according to precise specifications. You will play a critical role in the manufacturing process by producing high-quality metal components that meet the required specifications and standards.
Job type – temp to perm, permanent after 12 weeks
Working hours – Monday to Thursday, 7.00am to 5.00pm including breaks
Salary – £15 an hour
Responsibilities:
1. Machine Setup:
o Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
o Set up and calibrate Amada press brake machine based on job specifications (e.g., adjusting bend angles, material thickness, die selections).
o Conduct test runs to ensure machine setup is correct before full production.
2. Operation:
o Operate the Amada press brake to form metal parts to required tolerances.
o Inspect the first piece, adjust as necessary, and ensure that production matches quality standards.
o Monitor machine performance during operation and address any operational issues.
3. Quality Control:
o Use measuring tools like callipers, micrometres, and protractors to check part dimensions and angles.
o Ensure that parts meet specified tolerances and customer requirements.
o Perform regular inspections to ensure consistency and quality in production runs.
4. Maintenance:
o Perform routine maintenance on the Amada machine, including cleaning and lubrication.
o Troubleshoot and repair minor machine issues or report more serious problems to maintenance personnel.
5. Documentation:
o Maintain accurate records of production, machine settings, and part inspection results.
o Complete work orders and other documentation as required by company procedures.
6. Safety:
o Follow all safety protocols when operating the machine and working on the production floor.
o Ensure that all safety guards and equipment are in place before operation.
o Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
Requirements
1. Technical Skills:
o Proficient in operating Amada press brake machines (or similar CNC press brake machines).
o Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.
o Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and materials.
2. Physical Requirements:
o Able to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
o Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
3. Experience:
o Prior experience working with Amada press brakes or other CNC-controlled machines.
o Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and related equipment.
4. Attention to Detail:
o Ability to produce high-quality work with precise tolerances.
o Strong problem-solving skills to adjust machine settings and processes.
5. Communication:
o Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress and machine performance.
Preferred Experience:
1. Experience with CNC programming, particularly for Amada machines.
2. Prior experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
