Job summary The post holder is the operational lead for Chaplaincy and Voluntary Services, overseeing the management and coordination of the services across all Trust sites, namely Royal Cornwall Hospital, St Michaels Hospital and West Cornwall Hospital. Responsibilities include managing departmental budgets, offices, staff, volunteers, and Chaplaincy centres at each hospital. Additionally, the post holder is accountable for developing and maintaining the Trust's policies related to spiritual and pastoral care, as well as volunteering. This role sits within the Patient and Family Experience Team, reporting to the Patient Expereince Manager. This is a fulltime post working 35.7 hours per week including on call rota. Main duties of the job The lead is responsible for managing complex communication across the Trust, when developing communication on complex or sensitive matters and in direct patient care situations where sensitivity is essential, and emotions are extreme (e.g., surrounding traumatic death or child loss). External communication is also required with faith communities and media (in liaison with the communications team). The postholder is expected to have experience leading a team that delivers chaplaincy care and volunteering across various settings. Most training provisions will be in-house, and the postholder will ensure that all relevant training is provided to Chaplaincy and Voluntary Services team members. They will also be expected to participate in national Chaplaincy and Voluntary Services developments.
