We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Commis Chef based at Lendrick Muir. This is a unique opportunity to learn catering skills on the job while gaining the fuller experience of being part of a centre community. Throughout your training you will be mentored by an experienced member of the team. Purpose: To support the Catering and Assistant Catering Manager to fulfil the varied catering functions and associated tasks at Lendrick Muir. Responsibilities: Preparation, assisting with cooking and service of food to all catered groups Ensuring routine checks are carried out and recorded in relation to: fridge and freezer temperatures stocking lines and chemicals in kitchens recycling balancing of 3 kitchens maintaining a high level of cleanliness in kitchen areas dealing with incoming orders and storing correctly Supporting special events (Big Celebration, Fundraising Meals etc) To participate fully with the in-house and external training programmes which form part of your development opportunities to progress towards becoming a qualified Commis Chef Full participation in the life and ministry of SU Scotland Who we are looking for: We are seeking applicants who have a demonstrated interest in cooking/catering and would like to develop their skills and experience in this area. The successful applicant must be willing to undertake professional training and learn new skills in a busy kitchen environment. The ability to take initiative and work as part of a team is essntial.
