Isover, part of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, is seeking a skilled Plant Fitter to support plant availability and reliability through proactive and reactive maintenance.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our engineering team at our Runcorn site, contributing to the production of high-performance glass mineral wool insulation for thermal, acoustic, and fire protection solutions.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a time-served Plant Fitter with hands-on mechanical experience to ensure optimal plant performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key skills and experience include:
* Recognised time-served apprenticeship (ideally mechanical or mechatronics).
* Strong hands-on experience with industrial plant equipment.
* Proficiency in hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, and mechanical fault-finding.
* Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and condition monitoring techniques.
* Experience in carrying out emergency repairs and preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.
* Understanding of lubrication practices and alignment of rotating assets.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a skilled maintenance team.
* IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
* Experience in welding, fabrication, and lifting operations is desirable but not essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Plant Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring the site runs smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
* Performing mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs to plant machinery.
* Ensuring all plant and equipment are maintained to the highest standards to support production targets.
* Assisting with the supervision of sub-contractors where required.
* Accurately reporting work carried out, including CMMS records, timelines, and spare parts usage.
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment and site performance.
* Leading and mentoring apprentices in their development.
* Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
