About the Role:
This job requires the individual to develop an understanding of the workflows of a pathology laboratory and how our Laboratory Information System (LIS) interacts with the activities of the laboratory. The role will entail helping to support pathology laboratory staff using our LIS software, providing training on the operation of our software, and investigating and analyzing the activities of the laboratory staff to make recommendations to our developers on how we can make our products more effective.

Primary Role and Responsibilities:
1. Acquire knowledge of working practices of a pathology laboratory.
2. Develop an in-depth understanding of our LIS software.
3. Assist in the support of customers of our LIS software.
4. Keep up to date with regulatory changes and ensure these requirements are communicated effectively to our software development teams.
5. Support the verification and validation team ensuring the customer requirements and needs are met by the development team.
6. Provide clinical guidance and expertise to customers and internal project teams.
7. Deliver results after thorough research of functional needs of the pathology laboratory by collaborating and communicating between various users.
8. Work with the software developers to ensure what needs to be done in the pathology laboratory can be done using the computer system.
9. Use strong analytical reasoning to understand end user’s requirements and transform them into operational applications.
10. Help with the development of training materials.
11. Represent the company at various conferences and user meetings.
12. Develop expert knowledge on the configuration and setup of the LIS software.
13. Translate laboratory domain language into language software engineers can understand to be able to fix bugs and develop enhancements.
14. Seek to develop strong working relationships with laboratory personnel by holding customer meetings around clinical alignment and adoption of new technologies.
15. Work with laboratory personnel and software developers to ensure a common understanding of the needs of the laboratory and capabilities of the software.
16. Provide advice, guidance, and workarounds to laboratory personnel.
17. Talk to laboratory personnel and help diagnose software issues or gather requirements for system enhancements.
18. Occasional travel to our development offices in North America and Australia or our customer sites in North America, Australia, and Europe.
19. 3+ years of practical experience working in a pathology laboratory.
20. 3+ years of knowledge of LIS software.
21. Knowledge of laboratory health and safety.
22. Ability to understand and capture user requirements.
23. Appreciation of current changes in pathology laboratory practice.
24. Interest in IT – beyond normal knowledge of Word, email, e.g., being able to demonstrate knowledge of troubleshooting and configuring Windows beyond standard installation of applications.
