MAIN PURPOSE:
To use your employee relations expertise to coach and support people managers in all aspects of employee relations
To provide pragmatic, consistent and timely advice in accordance with employment law and people policy and procedures to minimise formal cases and resolve cases in a timely and fair way.
To manage the process of internal investigations into complex issues, alleged gross misconduct or serious SOVA (Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults) cases across the organisation.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide advice and case management across the organisation for disciplinary, grievance, and formal capability / performance, long term absence and AWOL issues, working in accordance with employment law, best practice and people policies and procedures.
To escalate more complex ER cases as necessary to the ER Manager.
To support the upskilling of all people managers on disciplinary and grievance procedures and their roles and responsibilities within the process.
To provide clear ongoing guidance to managers on their role and responsibilities within a process.
To attend formal hearings if and where necessary, to provide advice as required and to support managers to finalise outcomes that are robust.
To conduct some of the more complex investigations and report the evidence and mitigation to enable relevant personnel to assess and determine a resolution within a defined timescale.
To prepare thorough, accurate, objective and concise investigation reports in accordance with the approved format, ensuring that all supporting
evidence is complete, and concluding with a recommendation as to whether a disciplinary case should follow.
To report on case volumes, case status and trends and update People Business Partners on cases within their regions that are more complex or high risk in nature.
Where ETs arise, to support with the collation of bundles and defence against claims.
To support People Business Partners with restructuring projects, redundancies and TUPE situations where required.
About you:
Educated to degree/comparable NVQ level or equivalent.
Proven experience of working in a HR / ER Advisor role.
Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice and ability to practically implement.
Proven relevant experience carrying out employment investigations including grievance, disciplinary and attendance management.
Ability to weigh up complex evidence and reach sound conclusions that are fair and reasonable while protecting the organisation.
Experience of advising on a wide range of HR matters including all ER issues from disciplinaries and grievances to attendance management.
Experience of managing and supporting an end to end investigation case within defined timescales.
Experience in dealing with restructures, redundancy and TUPE situations.
Ability to and/or experience of reviewing HR policies and procedures.
Ability to work to challenging deadlines, manage multiple
cases, and prioritise work accordingly.
Excellent IT skills including the use of word, Excel, outlook and HR systems.
