Be responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning of all students who are assigned to the post holder, having responsibility for their literacy skills, progress, welfare and outcomes. Supervise the work of any support staff, who are assigned to work with the post holder’s students. To have an up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work. To implement the aims of the school. Role would suit primary as well as secondary trained teachers Postgraduate diploma in SEN is desirable. Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with students with SEMH is desirable. Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with a wide range of needs from non-readers to students aiming for GCSE English is desirable. Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of English within the national curriculum to support a range of students abilities and knowledge base. Working knowledge of SEMH students with complex needs including ASD. Knowledge, understanding and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
