Where will you be working?
Aviation - Our Aviation team works across a wide range of specialist civil, mechanical and electrical engineering works including major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields.
Rail - Our Rail team manages a wide range of specialist rail engineering works and projects delivering civils, track, power, electrical solutions and station structures across all rail routes in the UK.
Defence and adjacent markets - We manage reactive and planned maintenance and upgrades on defence properties, airfields, military bases, ports, railway infrastructure and depots.

What will you be doing?
The Mechanical & Electrical Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all mechanical and electrical projects and operations within the organization. You will lead the engineering team, drive innovation, ensure the highest standards of quality and safety, and work closely with other departments to align engineering initiatives with the company’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities
1. You will oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of engineering staff
2. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team
3. You will plan and deliver engineering projects on time and within budget
4. Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management
5. Drive innovation in mechanical & electrical engineering design and processes
6. Support research and development activities to enhance product offerings
7. Optimise engineering processes to reduce costs and improve performance
8. Represent the engineering department in executive meetings and strategic planning sessions
9. Develop and manage the engineering budget
What you’ll bring
* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA is preferred
* Extensive experience in mechanical/electrical engineering, with substantial time in a senior leadership role
* Established expertise in the Rail and/or Aviation industries
* Understanding of both High and Low voltage systems
* Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects and teams
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is desirable
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an advantage
